Vincent Cassel Is The Villian In “Bourne 5”
Vincent Cassel, who is known for his performances in Black Swan, Ocean’s Twelve, and Ocean’s Thirteen, is set to play the new villain in Bourne 5. Cassel’s character is reportedly an assassin who will have to face off against Bourne. If the villain was not an assassin, then he would not be a formidable physical or tactical threat to Jason Bourne. Other actors that have portrayed Bourne villains include Clive Owen, Edgar Ramirez, and Karl Urban. Given the quality of Cassel’s past performances and that he looks the part, he should be a fine addition to the Bourne Franchise.
The Bourne 5 cast already includes: Matt Damon, Tommy Lee Jones, Julia Stiles, and Alicia Vikander. Paul Greengrass, who is known for directing The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93, and Captain Phillips, will direct. The screenplay was written by Matt Damon, Paul Greengrass, and Christopher Rouse.
Bourne 5 will open nationwide on July 29, 2016, which is one week after Ice Age: Collision Course and Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur reboot debut. Also, Bourne 5 will open two weeks after Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot. One week after Bourne 5’s release, DC Comic’s Suicide Squad opens nationwide. While Bourne 5 will face plenty of competition, it should be the only spy-action film in theaters at that time. The return of Matt Damon and the titular character, Jason Bourne, should likewise help this film excel at the box office.
Do you think Cassel can portray a worthy foe for Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne in Bourne 5?
