Vin Diesel confirms there will be another “Riddick”
Vin Diesel, the social butterfly that he is, revealed on his Facebook page what many thought would happen.
Apparently Universal has committed to making another “Riddick” film, and will actually help fund it this time instead of making it difficult for him (like they did with “Riddick”).
His latest low-budget monster blood bath grossed almost $100 million in theaters, and was number one on the home sales market.
He had this to say, “I’m just excited, and happy, and I’m shouting out to you guys to say thank you. Universal just called me and told me that Riddick is number one on the DVD charts. There’s no way in the world Riddick would have been made without you guys, you know that. You guys have been a part of our page since 2012 and remember how arduous a road it was to get the movie made, and to make it rated R, and to do it with such a low budget. It’s a win for all of us and I really, really, really, really thank you so much. Yeah, I’m excited, and of course, Universal’s also saying they want to develop the next one.”
I think this is exciting as Diesel and the creative minds behind the franchise were so limited in what they could do due to budget restraints, but if Universal is willing to flip most of the bill next time around we could be in for an awesome follow-up.
