THE SHALLOWS Director Hops Aboard JUNGLE CRUISE
Hey, who doesn’t love Disney movies based on rides? Who can forget classics like Country Bear Jamboree, The Haunted Mansion, Mission to Mars, and Tomorrowland? Just kidding. But hey, Pirates of the Caribbean was pretty awesome. And with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson set to star in the next endeavor into adapting a Disney ride, expectations are high for Disney.
According to Deadline, Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, Non-Stop) has signed on to direct Jungle Cruise. However, this announcement comes at the expense of Warner Bros. as Collet-Serra was the studio’s top choice to direct Suicide Squad 2 and the director was reportedly close to finalizing a deal with the studio to direct. Instead, he opted to work with Disney and make a name for himself in a franchise he can make into his own.
The original script was penned by writer-director pair John Requa and Glenn Ficarra from flicks like Focus and Crazy, Stupid, Love, however, it is now being said that J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay from Star Trek Beyond have wrote the latest draft of the script. The plot is currently under wraps, but it is said to be an action/adventure flick with Indiana Jones vibes. Who wouldn’t want to watch that?
Are you excited for Jungle Cruise? Are you upset that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen aren’t starring in it together (because Disney did announce back in 2011 they were making their Jungle Cruise movie together)? Or do you think Disney should lay off adapting theme park rides? Let us know in the comments!
