The End is Nigh in Latest X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Trailer (Video)
Believed to be the first mutant, En Sabah Nur – Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) – has risen more powerful than ever. Using his great power to cleanse the Earth for the strongest, only Charles Xavier’s (James McAvoy) young X-Men – Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Jubilee (Lana Condor), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Havok (Lucas Till), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) – can stop him. Their fight to prevent extinction won’t be easy: Apocalypse is backed by his four horsemen, composed of Angel (Ben Hardy), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender). 20th Century Fox has premiered the newest trailer for director Bryan Singer’s (X-Men: Days of Future Past) fourth installment in the long-running X-Men franchise:
“For me specifically, well like, what [Apocalypse] does is he has the power to enhance your power. So while you’re around him, he’s got all these mega level mutants,” shared Alexandra Shipp, who portrays a young Storm. “He’s able to turn them into crazy-baboom level mutants. For me, he is like, what you can control everything, almost, kind of, sort of. I’m not the Phoenix, but you know what I mean. She’s got so many powers, and he’s like, but he doesn’t even know what her powers are when he meets her. He can just sense the level and that’s what attracts him to them. So what he is attracted to is their level and their magnitude of power.”
Fans of the series know that Halle Berry portrayed Storm, one of the forefront members of the X-Men, in previous installments. The young Storm, however – in keeping with her comic book counterpart – wasn’t quite so squeaky clean in her early days. As one of Apocalypse’s four horsemen, Storm is tasked with being an enforcer of sorts for the newly-returned omega mutant. “I think that his plan for her in the movie is to protect him. Protect him with fog. Protect him with lightening. Blow away a missile. Blow away a plane,” Shipp elaborated. “There is so much that she can do, and what he’s looking for is protection because he just woke up after a couple thousands and thousand years. He’s weak and he’s alone, and he’s been betrayed, you know. He’s kind of like a girlfriend who just got cheated on, who wants to date the nerdy guy who can take care of her.”
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27th.
