First Look at TANGLED: BEFORE EVER AFTER Animated Series
Oh My Disney has untangled the first look at Tangled: Before Ever After. The animated series, inspired by Disney’s 2010 hit film Tangled, is set between the film and its 2012 followup animated short, Tangled Ever After. In it, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) and Flynn (Zachary Levi) found happily ever after when the two were married.
The series will differ from its CGI-animated counterpart in that it utilizes a traditional, 2D animation look. The first look, above, comes from Claire Keane – daughter of legendary Disney animator Glen Keane – who contributed design work and consulted on the series. Glen Keane was originally set to direct Tangled for Walt Disney Animation Studios before health issues caused the animator to relinquish duties to Byron Howard (Zootopia) and Nathan Greno (Gigantic). Keane remained on the project as executive producer and an animating director.
Tangled‘s original composer, Alan Menken – who has previously brought broadway-inspired music to such beloved Disney hits as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin – will contribute music to the show. Moore and Levi are reprising their roles from the animated hit, with Jeffrey Tambor and Paul F. Tompkins returning to their roles of Big Nose and Shorty. Rapunzel’s (real) mother, Arianna, will be voiced by Ashley Judd, with famed voice artist Clancy Brown serving as Rapunzel’s father, King Frederic. M.C. Gainey, Eden Espinosa, Jeff Ross, Richard Kind, Sean Hayes, Peter MacNicol, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Diedrich Bader, Charles Halford, Steve Blum, James Monroe Iglehart, and Jonathan Banks will all lend their voices to the animated series, set to debut on the Disney Channel in 2017.
