STAR WARS: Force Friday Strikes Back
Force Friday — the day new Star Wars merchandise launches — returns September 1st, Disney announced Thursday.
Force Friday II will unleash a slew of toys, clothing, collectibles and more from Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, sequel to 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The announcement brought our first official look at the new trilogy’s main trio, with Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac) adorning a product box.
Rey, flanked by Poe and Finn, is rocking a new hairstyle and wielding the lightsaber that once belonged to Anakin Skywalker and eventually his son Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the Jedi Master who will help Rey along as she is adjusting to life with the Force and “taking her first step to coming to terms with this thing inside her that she never knew was there and is just starting to reveal its potential.”
“The first Star Wars Force Friday event was truly unique, uniting fans across five continents in an unprecedented global live unboxing event ahead of thousands of midnight openings at retail,” said Jimmy Pitaro, head of Disney Consumer Products. “Plans for this year’s world-wide event are top secret but expect something befitting the excitement around the next episode of the Star Wars saga.”
Fans can look forward to Hasbro and LEGO being among the companies bringing Star Wars: The Last Jedi products to store shelves. The eighth installment of the legendary Star Wars saga opens December 15th.
