Spider-Man Confirmed for AVENGERS 4
Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be swinging into the currently untitled fourth Avengers movie.
Captain America: Civil War introduced the teenage hero (Tom Holland), who will next star in Spider-Man: Homecoming this July. Following that, Spidey will join the fray alongside the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War (opening May 2018), followed by an already confirmed second solo Spider-Man adventure in July 2019 — just two months after Avengers 4 opens in May 2019.
(That means Spider-Man will have made consecutive big screen appearances in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.) We also know that Holland has a six picture deal with Marvel Studios and Sony, leaving the sixth film on his contract a likely third Spider-Man solo outing. Of course, like Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. before him, Holland could extend his contract upon completion.
For now, we have confirmation from Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige that the webhead is in Avengers 4. “That’s as far as it goes for now,” he tells THR, but with Spider-Man being Marvel’s most popular character since 1962, we can expect (or, at least, hope) that Disney and Sony extend their partnership deal. (See here for more on how that Disney and Sony’s Spider-Man agreement works.)
Spider-Man: Homecoming opens July 7th, with Avengers: Infinity War opening May 4th, 2018, Avengers 4 on May 3rd, 2019 and the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel on July 5th, 2019.
