See What Spider-Man Was Up to Before CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Marvel Comics has been releasing comic book tie-ins and preludes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe films as far back as Iron Man 2 in 2010, including “Iron Man 2: Public Identity,” “Captain America: First Vengeance,” “The Avengers Prelude: Fury’s Big Week,” and preludes for Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man and Doctor Strange.
The most recent — “Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude” — hit comic book store shelves today, written by Will Corona Pilgrim and artist Todd Nauck.
YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN SWINGS INTO THE MCU! PETER PARKER is just your average, nerdy, tech-loving teenager…until an unexpected turn of events lands him with the power to cling to walls and the proportionate strength of a spider! SPIDER-MAN’s foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins here, with part one of an adaptation of the blockbuster Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which sees a rift between CAPTAIN AMERICA and IRON MAN rend a schism between the Avengers…with Spider-Man in the middle of it all!
Unfortunately, anyone looking for more of a fill-in on what Spidey was up to before Tony Stark dropped by and recruited him in Captain America: Civil War will walk away disappointed — most of the new content is resigned to the above preview pages, with the rest of the issue simply retelling what audiences have already seen in the movie version of events. (Even the bus save was already glimpsed in Civil War, when Tony shows Peter Parker footage of Spider-Man preventing a deadly crash). The book is available for $3.99, with the second (and final) issue hitting store shelves June 20th.
We’ll catch up with Peter Parker — and his fancy new Spider-duds — in Spider-Man: Homecoming, swinging into theaters July 7th.
