SAW 8 Moving Forward as SAW LEGACY
Do you want to play a game? The “how many sequels can a series churn out before it irreparably dies” game? Jigsaw will live once again courtesy of Lionsgate, who are moving forward with the eighth installment of the horror franchise that originated in 2004 under The Conjuring director James Wan. Scripting the project are Piranha 3D writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, though no story details have been made available.
Created on a budget of just $1.2 million, Saw was a major success: it grossed $103 million and launched an iconic, long-running horror franchise that will continue with next year’s Saw Legacy. Wan departed the director’s chair after the debut installment, but remained on board as producer for the series – a series which has brought in more than $873 million at the worldwide box office in its lifetime. Saw Legacy will be executive produced by Wan as well as original Saw co-writer Leigh Whannell.
Saw Legacy arrives in 2017.
