MOONLIGHT Actor Mahershala Ali will have 2 roles in ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL
Mahershala Ali, hot off his Oscar win, is only expanding on his acting skills. He’s so good that for his upcoming role in the adaptation of the manga, Alita: Battle Angel, he stated that he will be playing two roles.
After the Academy awarded him for Moonlight, he was asked about his upcoming role in the press room, saying:
“I’m really excited about that. I actually play two parts in that film. That was a blast. I literally wrapped that maybe two weeks ago.”
Nobody knows yet what his second role entails, but currently, he is cast as Vector. Vector is game-fixer for the sport of choice in Alita’s world, Motorball, a gladiator-style combat game. However, in the manga, Vector is an expert broker in the illegal business of selling human organs and body parts from “The Scrapyard”.
The film is set in the 26th Century about a female cyborg that picked up in a scrap heap by a sympathetic scientist. As soon as she becomes a functioning cyborg she explores her promiscuous past for answers all the while hunting baddies in a post-apocalyptic world.
Alita: Battle Angel is set to come out July 20th, 2018 and it stars Rosa Salazar, Jennifer Connelly, Jackie Earle Haley, Christoph Waltz, Ed Skrein, and Michelle Rodriguez. It is directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Laeta Kalogridis and James Cameron.
