Meryl Streep and others join “Suffragette”

An all-star female cast is coming together for Sarah Gavron’s “Suffragette.”

Written by Abi Morgan (“The Iron Lady”) the story centers on the foot soldiers who were forced underground during the early days of the women’s suffrage movement in the UK.

According to Variety, “Iron Lady” star and Oscar winner Meryl Streep will play British political activist Emmeline Pankhurst opposite Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter.

Streep has never given a bad performance, that I’m aware of (and I loved “Death Becomes Her”), and adding her with the rest of this talent can only mean incredible performances from everyone.

She typically pushes those around her to reach levels they never thought possible (look at the performances in the terrible “August: Osage County” as an example). "Never Let Me Go" Press Conference - 2010 Toronto International Film Festival
