Marvel’s THE INHUMANS Finds its Black Bolt
The Inhumans, the newest television series set in the linked Marvel Cinematic Universe, has cast its King Black Bolt.
Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels) has signed on to play the silent leader of the Inhuman royal family in the upcoming ABC series, set to debut this September. Marvel announced the production this past November. “Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, said in a statement. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
“Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life,” said showrunner Scott Buck.
The Inhumans comes as part of an unprecedented move for IMAX, who will present the first two episodes of the series in the IMAX format in theaters this September. The show previously cast Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as Black Bolt’s villainous brother, Maximus. Black Bolt contains a voice so powerful that a single utterance can shatter mountains, causing him to speak only when he must unleash his destructive ability.
