Life, Uhh, Finds a Way: Jeff Goldblum Joins JURASSIC WORLD Sequel
Well, uh, there it is. Jeff Goldblum, who portrayed mathematician and chaos theory expert Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park and its sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, will reprise the role in Universal’s Jurassic World sequel.
Hollywood Reporter broke the news Tuesday night. There’s no word on the size of Goldblum’s role, but he joins a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Justice Smith, James Cromwell and Toby Jones. J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, A Monster Calls) directs from a script by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly.
Goldblum isn’t the only Jurassic Park star returning for the sequel: just a few weeks ago, we received confirmation the original T-Rex from Jurassic Park will once again be included. Goldblum’s Jurassic Park co-star Laura Dern, who played paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler (later reprising the role in Jurassic Park III) is also game to return to the franchise, telling EW: “As I said to the people who are making the new series, ‘If you guys make a last one, you gotta let Ellie Sattler come back,’” Dern said early last month. “She’s always the one who’s saving the day, man!”
We’re completely down for a Malcolm / Sattler / Alan Grant (Sam Neill) reunion. Jurassic World 2 opens June 22nd, 2018.
