Kevin Hart Tapped For THE GREAT OUTDOORS Remake

Who doesn’t love The Great Outdoors? The fresh air, beautiful scenery, Dan Aykroyd and John Candy pitted against each other…nothing beats it.

Only this time (per Deadline), Kevin Hart is set to star in the Universal Pictures remake of the family flick. Micheal De Luca is producing for Michael De Luca Productions with Hart himself through Hartbeat Productions.  De Luca has produced films like The Social Network, American History X, and Moneyball under his belt and Kevin Hart…well you know who he is.

Newcomer Randall Green has been selected to write the script. Green recently wrote a Scooby-Doo script for Warner Brothers and he is currently writing for the Showtime drama Billions. Currently, no director is attached to the script.

Here’s the plot according to IMDb:

The movie, a remake of the 1988 comedy, follows a family whose vacation is interrupted by their annoying in-laws.

The original film was directed by Howard Deutch and written by the legendary John Hughes, and of course, it stars Dan Aykroyd and John Candy.

What do you think of them remaking The Great Outdoors? Should they leave it alone or should they revive it? Let us know in the comments below!
