Josh Brolin Cast as Cable in DEADPOOL 2
Fox has finally found it’s Cable: Josh Brolin (currently Thanos, the big bad of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe) has been cast as the time-hopping, gun-wielding, metal-armed mutant.
Brolin joins a cast that includes Ryan Reynolds (reprising his role as the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool), T.J. Miller (Weasel), Russian X-Man Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) mean X-Man-in-training Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni). Last month, Atlanta actress Zazie Beetz won the role of newcomer Domino.
Last year, it was reported Fox wanted Taken star Liam Neeson for the role of Cable, Deadpool’s frequent action partner in the comics. Brad Pitt talked to the filmmakers, but couldn’t fit the film in his schedule; Stephen Lang campaigned for the role; Dolph Lundgren was open to it; Deadpool creator Rob Liefield approached Russell Crowe about it (and it went about as well as you’d expect); former James Bond Pierce Brosnan was speculated (due to a photo op with Reynolds and former Wolverine star Hugh Jackman); and Michael Shannon was rumored for the role (and was rumored to have turned it down, natch). Deadpool 2 releases in 2018.
