Japanese PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES Trailer Spoils a Cameo (Video)
Arr, mateys! Tread these waters carefully, for there be spoilers ahead.
A new Japanese trailer for Disney’s upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has arrived online, and while the trailer features new footage, there’s also what seems to be a spoiler within.
Did you catch it? There was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse at Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Turner (née Swan), wife of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom). The last time we saw the starcrossed lovers (in 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Will was cursed with taking up the supernatural duties of Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman.
Now, their son — Henry Turner, as portrayed by Brenton Thwaites — is wrapped up in a plot by the ghostly Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), who seeks grave vengeance on a certain Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). We learned last year that Knightley was rumored to return, likely in a post-credits scene. We don’t know the context of Knightley’s role in the movie — it could be a cameo during the film itself — but considering there’s been no mention of her in the synopsis, cast list, posters or footage so far, it seems like a surprise cameo has been needlessly ruined.
Starring Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Brenton Thwaites, and Kaya Scodelario, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sets sail May 26th.
