FEAR THE WALKING DEAD Adds Two Cast Members
Spoilers for the first season of Fear the Walking Dead.
Last Summer, AMC premiered Fear the Walking Dead, companion series to their smash hit zombie drama The Walking Dead. Los Angeles residents Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Madison (Kim Dickens) must protect their families as a mysterious outbreak cripples the city – and the world. The dead’s hunger for human flesh causes Travis, Madison, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie), Nick (Frank Dillane), Ofelia (Mercedes Mason), Daniel (Ruben Blades) and Strand (Colman Domingo) fleeing to sea on a yacht. Season two – which began filming in Baja, Mexico in December – will see the addition of not only more episodes than the initial season’s six episode run, but the inclusion of two new characters.
It Follows star Daniel Zovatto has joined in a currently unknown role, with Deadline reporting that Zovatto’s character will be recurring. Daniel previously mentioned a nearby family member – could Zovatto’s character be related to the Salazars? The unnamed character could potentially be an acquaintance or close friend of druggie Nick, or even an associate of the mysterious Strand. Of course, it’s entirely possible that Zovatto’s character has no relation to any of the previously introduced survivors, being introduced as a complete stranger who may prove to be good or bad.
Also announced by the site was cast member Arturo Del Puerto (Ride Along 2), named as Carlos, a recurring character who is described as “guarded but possessing a spiritual understanding of the world.” Due to Carlos’ religious nature, he could end up proving to be the groups’ moral compass – not unlike The Walking Dead‘s Dale, Hershel, or Glenn. There’s always a character who – for better or worse – refuses to loosen their morals in light of the newfound world dominated by cannibalistic cannibals and deprived humans, and with a spiritual background, Carlos could introduce a nice dynamic to a group that has taken part in some nasty stuff early on in the apocalypse.
Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on April 10th, and will air the first half of its 15 episode season . Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick, will follow immediately after. Meanwhile, The Walking Dead returns Sunday, February 14th
