Emilia Clarke Will Not Portray Sarah Connor Again
Terminator Genisys grossed $440 million worldwide on an $155 million budget, but it received the weakest audience reaction of the franchise. Thus, Paramount Pictures and Skydance are still considering whether or not they will make more Terminator sequels. In fact, a sequel, which was originally scheduled for release in 2017, is still in development, yet no screenwriters, directors, or actors are attached. It is worth noting that a second sequel to Terminator Genisys was originally scheduled to debut in 2018.
In a recent interview, Emilia Clarke was asked if she would return as Sarah Connor in any future Terminator sequels, she replied: “No. Can I say that? It’s okay. No. Uh-uh. But I have some very different roles coming up.” Considering the disappointing quality of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation, Emilia Clarke was one of the only reasons fans were excited about Terminator Genisys. The fact that she will not reprise her role as Sarah Connor means that if there are any more Terminator sequels, she will have to be recast.
Clarke is best-known for portraying Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones. She stars alongside Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) in Me Before You, which will be released on June 3rd, 2016, and Voice from the Stone, which will be released sometime in 2016. The Season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones will air on Sunday night.
Are you glad that Emilia Clarke is moving on from this fledgling franchise? Who should replace her as Sarah Connor in the next Terminator sequel?
