DCEU Writer David S. Goyer May Potentially Direct GREEN LANTERN CORPS
With directors dropping out of DC movies left and right, it’s no surprise that Warner Brothers is tapping one of its own heroes, David S. Goyer, to potentially direct the new Green Lantern Corps film. Directing the new Green Lantern feature wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for Goyer since he is also a writer for the film alongside writing partner Justin Rhodes.
The Tracking Board’s Jeff Sneider, a host of Meet The Movie Press, revealed that he has heard murmurs of Goyer being potentially lined up to direct the Green Lantern Corps.
“This one doesn’t have a director either, but it has a writer and it has a producer. I’m hearing David Goyer could very well wind up directing Green Lantern Corps himself. When you look at screenwriters that are taking the plunge and directing these movies themselves, we saw rumors last month that Simon Kinberg was going to direct the next X-Men movie. David Goyer is responsible for this entire DC Universe, he wrote Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. He wrote Man of Steel, he is the architect, if you will. He is writing and producing Green Lantern Corps, so it’s just very well, what I have heard, one of those situations where he could be like “Listen, I think I may be the best guy for the job, nobody knows this like I do.”
Goyer is no stranger to directing superhero movies, he directed Blade: Trinity for Marvel back in 2004 and has directed a few features since. With Green Lantern Corps set to come out July of 2020, time is of the essence to pick a director before they can start production.
Do you think Goyer can transition from writing DC movies to directing them? Can the new Green Lantern feature redeem the 2011 one? Let us know in the comments below!
