Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg Set to Star in 9/11 Drama
The careers of Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg have been relatively quiet recently but, uh, they’re coming back to the silver screen this September with a 9/11 drama entitled 9/11.
The film is directed by Martin Guigui, written by Steven James Golebiowski and Martin Guigui, and also stars Gina Gershon and Luis Guzmán. It’s based upon a play by Patrick Carson and the offical plot synopsis is,
A group of 5 people find themselves trapped in an elevator in the World Trade Center’s North Tower on 9/11. They work together, never giving up hope, to try to escape before the unthinkable happens.
So, this is tricky. Films based upon this subject matter have been well done like United 93, but we’ve also had films like Remember Me so it’ll will be interesting to see how this one turns out. The fact creatively, none of these men have done anything of merit is troubling but that doesn’t mean the film can’t be good, my main concern is that of Charlie Sheen. Being that his last dramatic role was a cameo in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and before that Being John Malkovich. If he can drop his recent comedic persona this could turn out well. I don’t know, this film came out of blue and with it coming so soon, I just hope it turns out well. Who knows, maybe it’ll turn out to be great. Check out the poster below!
