Brad Pitt Wants David Fincher to Helm WORLD WAR Z Sequel
After moving forward with writer Dennis Kelly late last year, Paramount’s planned World War Z sequel lost its director in Juan Antonio Bayona (whose soon-to-be-released A Monster Calls prevented him from giving star and producer Brad Pitt’s zombie sequel the attention it deserved). Variety reports that Pitt has approached Fight Club and Gone Girl director David Fincher to take on the continuation of the worldwide zombie crisis, and has “zeroed in” on Fincher after meeting with several other directors.
Should Fincher come aboard the sequel, once again inspired by Max Brooks’ horror novel, it would mark the fourth collaboration for Fincher and Pitt after having brought Se7en, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to screens. World War Z 2 is expected to start filming next year.
