BLACK PANTHER Tops Social Media
The first trailer for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Black Panther has the African superhero already poised to be Marvel’s next big breakout star.
Marvel Studios premiered the teaser trailer during game four of the NBA finals on Friday, leading to the Ryan Coogler-directed film to rack up an amazing 466,000 conversations on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, Variety reports. The tally, compiled by the analytics team at the media-measurement firm comScore, put Black Panther in the lead for social media buzz this past week, topping upcoming blockbusters Spider-Man: Homecoming, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
THR notes the Black Panther teaser trailer generated 89 million views in its first 24 hours, a figure which includes the 19 million television views from game four of the NBA finals. Black Panther, by the way, generated more mentions than the game, which saw the Cleveland Cavaliers facing off against the Golden State Warriors in Cleveland.
Starring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Andy Serkis, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Sterling K. Brown, Angela Bassett, and Forest Whitaker, Black Panther opens February 16th, 2018.
