Benedict Cumberbatch Confirms DOCTOR STRANGE for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Doctor Strange is the latest superhero addition to the cinematic side of the Marvel Universe, with the Sorcerer Supreme’s big screen debut hitting screens in just over a month. While there’s a good reason to believe the good doctor will be popping up again in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, star Benedict Cumberbatch told Empire of the “logistical challenge of aligning [his] schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany,” who portray Avengers Iron Man, Thor, Scarlet Witch, and Vision, respectively – all of whom are returning for the third Avengers film, subtitled Infinity War.
“To get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter,” he teased. “So watch this space to see how that unfolds.” It was expected, but never officially confirmed, that Infinity War would involve Strange, as well as recent newcomers Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), and Captain Marvel (the yet-to-appear Brie Larson). Cumberbatch isn’t the first actor to reveal something he maybe shouldn’t have: Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel made it known last month that the Guardians would be joining the fray in Infinity War, presumably because he knows he’s safe from those oft-spoken of Marvel snipers.
But hey, this helps work as some good (and probably intentional) additional advertising for Doctor Strange, which drops November 4th.
