Bella Thorne Wants To Portray Lady Deadpool In “Deadpool 2”

Fans know that screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) are returning to pen the screenplay for Deadpool 2. Director Tim Miller is also returning to helm this highly-anticipated R-rated superhero sequel. Also, Cable will be introduced. While not much else is known about the plot or characters appearing in Deadpool 2, there is one young actress who wants to join this franchise.

During an interview for Ratchet & Clank, Bella Thorne asked if she wants to star in a superhero film. She stated the following: “I’d be so down to play like a badass Marvel character. Any type of badass female in live-action, like Cora is in this movie. I also like playing roles that are very rebellious and real. So it’s good when you really show teenagers for how they actually act and how they actually talk. Honestly, if I could just play a female version of Deadpool – any character that’s a female version of Deadpool – I’m so down!”

In the comics, Wanda Wilson of Earth-3010, a.k.a. Lady Deadpool, is a character that originates from an alternate universe prior to joining Wade Wilson’s team of mercenaries. Another character who would fit Bella Thorne’s desire to portray a female version of Deadpool is Gwenpool, who is a girl who is “transported into the Marvel Comics who is living through the pages of these books.” Both of these characters are more bizarre than many characters in traditional superhero blockbusters. Then again, Deadpool is beloved because of his subversiveness. Lady Deapool or Gwnepool may be subversive and bizarre enough to make her a worthy equal to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool/Wade Wilson.

Whether or not Lady Deadpool will appear in Deadpool 2 remains to be seen. Even if this character appears in this sequel, Bella Thorne would not be the best fit for such a role. Thorne is known for her roles in The DUFF, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and Blended. In other words, Thorne has not yet portrayed a subversive, foul-mouthed superhero. To be frank, Thorne’s quote is likely a consequence of her upcoming slate of films which includes Amityville: The Awakening and Boo! A Madea Halloween.
