BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Trailer #3 (Video)
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice star Ben Affleck visited Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday night, and he came bearing gifts: namely, the latest trailer for the highly anticipated film that will see the Dark Knight taking on the Man of Steel.
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
Followup to 2013’s Man of Steel – the launching point of Warner Brothers’ DC Cinematic Universe – Batman v. Superman features the first live-action team up between the two titular and iconic heroes, and will also feature the live-action debuts of Wonder Woman and Aquaman on the big screen. Laying the foundation for director Zack Snyder’s Justice League two-parter, the film serves as an introduction to a rebooted Batman in the form of Ben Affleck. This Batman, previously described by Affleck as being “at the end of his run and maybe the end of his life,” has a “world-weariness” to him after serving as Gotham’s protector for twenty years. He’s fought the Joker, he’s lost a Robin – and now he must contend with a superpowered alien who wields the powers of a god.
The superhero epic is rumored to be the single most expensive film ever made, carrying a totaled budget of $410 million. Originally slated for a July 17, 2015 release date, Batman v. Superman was pushed back with the means to give the filmmakers “time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.” The film’s new date of May 6, 2016 occupied a date previously staked out by studio rival, the Disney-owned Marvel Studios, who later announced that the third Captain America film – Captain America: Civil War – was the previously-unknown film that would serve as Batman v. Superman‘s competition. The team up pic starring the world’s finest was then moved up to its current and final slot – March 25, 2016 – with March serving as a “fantastic corridor” for Warner Brothers.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Holly Hunter (Senator Finch). Directed by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) and scripted by Chris Terrio (Argo) and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice releases March 25, 2016.
