Alec Baldwin is THE BOSS BABY in DreamWorks’ Animated Comedy (Video)
DreamWorks Animation (the studio behind the Shrek and Madagascar franchises, and the upcoming Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick-starrer Trolls) will next bring The Boss Baby to theaters everywhere, featuring Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) as a business professional who happens to drop the occasional poopy in his pants.
“Here’s this movie with this adorable kid and Alec Baldwin’s voice coming out of him,” director Tim McGrath told USA Today. Similar to the way the filmmakers behind Toy Story and Aladdin sold stars Tom Hanks and Robin Williams on voicing Sheriff Woody and the Genie, respectively, McGrath narrowed in on Baldwin by animating a cute baby to Baldwin’s “coffee is for closers” speech from Glengarry Glen Ross. “Alec knows where the comedy is,” says McGrath. “Boss Baby is this suave business guy, but when things go wrong, he throws a fit.”
“Kids, when they get a baby brother, either flip out or totally embrace it. If you watch YouTube, mostly they flip out,” McGrath shares. “They fear all the love for them will be taken away. We hung our hat around that idea.” The Boss Baby finds himself in contention with older brother Tim (Miles Bakshi, with Tobey Maguire providing the narration for Older Tim), but the warring siblings must put their differences aside to take on the evil CEO of Puppy Co., Francis E. Francis (Steve Buscemi) – who aims to sap the world’s love supply by unveiling the cutest puppy breed ever. “There’s sibling rivalry and there’s rivalry between puppies and babies over who is the cutest and who gets the most love,” says McGrath.
DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby. He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby. The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages. Based on Marla Frazee’s 2010 award-winning picture book The Boss Baby and starring Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy Kimmel, and Tobey Maguire, The Boss Baby opens March 31st, 2017.
